The Arroyo Seco 4th of July Parade is coming up Thursday July 4 at noon. This is one of the best loved, quirky events in the state, and thousands make the trek up to Seco every year to witness the creative and enterprising spirit of our parade participants. There is still time to participate in the event, but in order to win cash prizes for your best float concepts you must register in person at the Arroyo Seco Mercantile on Hwy 150. The building that now houses the "Mercantile" was built circa 1895 and was a general store until the mid 1930's, it still feels like stepping back in time when you poke your head into the double hung door, and smell the sage and cedar incense and step onto the deeply worn dark wide plank floors inside the adobe building.
Pop in and say hi, and register to win cash for your superlative float in the following categories:
Best on Wheels
Best under 12
The parade starts at noon, and spectators are encouraged to arrive by 11:30 to park within the village, otherwise, parking tends to head down hwy 150 toward Sabroso, and up hwy 15. Participants should arrive much earlier to prepare and organize and are welcome to gather/park at the Community Center. Please be kind and respectful while visiting our neighborhood. Pack trash in and out, pick up after your pets, and keep them on leash. We look forward to seeing everyone there on Independence Day.
